Effect of GST on Bloggers and You tubers

Now a day’s technology has grown so fast that people have shifted from offline to online for earning income. 1 out of 10 people have a blog online. But when money starts pondering there come question that whether this income is taxable or not? Before giving the answer to this question let’s have an overlook at what GST actually is and how GST return filing.

GST stands for Goods and service tax. It is an indirect tax laid by the central government on various goods and services. This tax is divided in 5 slabs depending on the commodity and service.
In short the answer to the above question is yes. GST is applicable to the income from ad sense and it fall under 18% tax slabs. But the readers/ viewers are not counted in this category and they are exempted from it. Thus it becomes a mandate for a Blogger to get GST registration as soon as possible. The reason is quite simple as Bloggers sell their services even to the overseas customers and thus it becomes an export of service and therefore GST comes into picture. Selling an ad sense space to someone is a business in itself for which one have to pay a tax and ultimately GST return filing can be done afterwards. Thus bloggers earning a hefty income from their business blog are bound to pay tax as laid by the central government.
Do you tubers also have to pay something in this regard?
Though you tubers do not sell an ad space to someone, it is done automatically. But you tubers need to keep in mind that they also have to pay some tax by having a proper GST registration and GSTIN number. But if you are you tuber who do not wish to sell anything, you are again exempted from this.
Thus if you are a blogger or you tuber, get ready to shred some bucks for Government so as to get rich in a legal manner. So, at the end of the day, it is you who are going to help with this in terms of GST return filing

  1. India imposes an indirect tax on the delivery of goods and services known as the Goods and Services Tax (GST). Each and every registered taxpayer with GST is required to submit GST tax returns. Government tax obligations are determined using these returns.

  2. India's goods and services industry has been affected significantly by the Goods & Services Tax (GST). It is a unified, multistage, destination-based tax levied on all value additions in India, which was implemented in 2017. Impact of GST is still seen and will be seen, both on a good and bad note!
